Synopsis
Tracing intertwined threads in Philippine history which prove that the country's recent People's Power Movement has been fuelled by agressive, long-term involvement by Filipinas in their country's political, social, and economic struggles. The overview includes: recapping of events leading to despot Ferdinand Marcos' 1986 ousting; and presenting a general hymn to the historical tenacity of Philippine women--dating back to when the first Spanish conquerors arrived in the early 16th-century, and were shocked by the society's matriarchal structure and female priests; as well as by liberal attitudes toward female sexuality and family planning.
