Synopsis
Manuel is an idealistic anarchist in the Spanish Civil War. During a Fascist air raid, he saves a Goya painting from destruction and in a shelter, meets Carmen. She has lost her family, and comes to live with Manuel, his aunt and cousin. But when it comes to choosing between selling the painting to a black marketeer or feeding his new family, Manuel is forced to reconcile his ideals with his growing personal responsiblities.
