Synopsis

Alex poses as a cop to rescue inexperienced Bosnian prostitute Svetlana from a pimp. He is a small-time crook who has drifted into her life, but the pair get along well for a while. She must pay for her mother's business back home in Bosnia, while Alex is paying child support for a daughter he never sees. Their financial burdens become too much though when Alex is caught stealing tools from a construction site and given a week to reimburse the foreman. Svetlana, meanwhile, is thinking in terms of marriage and residency. Alex turns to another lonely hooker, Ruth, as distraction from these problems.
