Synopsis
The subject of "Red" directors and writers working within the studio system during the 1930s through the 1950s is examined in this documentary. These filmmakers made films that tackled controversial issues including race, class, gender and war. Clips from 53 films of various genres are used to show how these filmmakers' ideology affected their work and its reception and blacklisted artists including Paul Jarrico, Ring Lardner, Jr., Alfred Levitt and Abraham Polonsky are interviewed.
