A myriad of characters' lives intersect in small ways as they pass through the countryside of Spain. Klaus is still hung up on Franziska, who dumped him the year before. She is back in Munich, planning to marry her fiance Holger. Before the wedding, she crashes her car into Elke's: Elke tells her her own sad story of romance and loss. Meanwhile, three sisters have various romantic problems, Linda sleeps with men in Spain in order to get a bed for the night, and an old man travels with the ashes of his wife.
