Synopsis

Father Holy is a man of faith who is trying to keep the local Communist leaders from closing an aging cathedral during the last days of the Soviet Empire. He is tested from all sides as his parishioners fail to muster any political clout from their ranks while a woman who he has secretly loved for many years is dying of cancer as her husband and children helplessly look on. Father Holy hatches a plan with a local scultor to make a copy of the cathedral's renaissance statue in order to sell the original to raise the funds needed to keep the parish intact. It is a scheme that leads him into interesting encounters with local authorities and members of his parish.
