The featured convert in this documentary, Ricardo, was formerly known as "Sara" and was a homeless, Latino transvestite profiled five years earlier in "The Salt Mines" (USA/1990) by the same documentarians Susana Aikins and Carlos Aparicio. Thusly, "The Transformation" acts be coined as an indirect sequel/follow-up to their earlier study.
