Synopsis
Set in present-day Mexico, a story of religious fervor and misunderstanding between the ruling class of crillos, who are generally cruel and intolerant and their peasant neighbors, the Indians--Nahuatls. The major conflict between the Indians and crillos centers on an ancient text, half in Nahuatl and half in Spanish, called the Colloquium of the Adoration of the King. The Indians want to perform it in full costume at the town church, much to the chagrin of the ruling class.
