Synopsis
Set in 1966 off the Dutch coast, a tale about a tentative, young music teacher, Frans, who moves to a small island to teach at the local secondary school. Feeling lonely and out of place, Frans quickly resolves to having an affair with a newfound companion--his flirtatious male collegue, Duits, the school's German teacher. When their affection for each other is noticed by close friends, Duits decides that he can secretly continue their relationship if he becomes headmaster of the school and marries the girls' gym teacher. However, Frans refuses to conform to a life in the closet, and leaves the island bitterly disappointed... Thirty years later, the two meet again, and discover that their love is just as fervent--now what?
