Synopsis

A humorous portrait of high-ranking diplomat, Stephane Hesel who became De Gaulle's first ambassador to the United Nations, helped spearhead development in Africa, as well as post-colonial programs in Vietnam and Algeria. Hesel was born in Berlin and raised, by Bohemian parents in France, until he was picked up by the Nazis on a cobbled street in Paris; ironically he would become ambassador-for-life operating at the highest ranks of successive French governments.
