Synopsis
A three-part documentary focusing on the the female artists who pioneered the practice and theory of feminist filmmaking. Part One begins in the 1950s with the controversial documentarian Julia Reichert ("Uniion Maids") and reknowned visual artist Carloee Schneemann ("Fuses"), Part Two paralles the work of six women whose careers began contemporaneously with the women's movement of the 1970s including Barbara Hammer and Michelle Citron; and Part Three explores the art and poltitics of the post-feminist climate in the films of Yvonne Welborn and Carol Leigh.
