Synopsis

Selya is a small-town schoolteacher who is having an affair with Bobby, who suddenly splits town. On impulse, she quits her job to pursue him. Unable to find him immediately, she settles down in a small city that he occasionally visits. Lodging at a boarding house, she meets Ramon. Ramon is gay and his having an affair with a married man, a fact known by everyone in the town except Selya. When, suddenly, Ramon asks her to marry him, she says yes, a move that coincides with Bobby's return. Selya is soon back in Bobby's arms due to Ramon's inability to satisfy her; but when she becomes pregnant, Bobby leaves her again. A forgiving Ramon steps up and agrees to become the child's father.
