The La Borde clinic was founded in 1953 by Jean Oury with the aim of restoring the word "asylum" to its original meaning: that of a shelter from danger, a sanctuary where one could live in peace. He was soon joined by philosopher Felix Guattan, with whom he gradually altered the foundations of traditional psychiatry. One of the singularities of La Borde is that there is no formal distinction made between patients and the staff. "Every Little Thing" preserves this spirit, leaving the viewer to decide who is who by observing every little thing.
