Synopsis
Ikuo, a junk trader, appears as a modern personification of the bird god Garuda, an evil figure in Buddhist mythology. Upon his release from a long jail sentence for rape, Ikuo visits a "soapland", an erotic bathhouse for men, where he meets Mieko, a prostitute whom he thinks he recognizes as the woman he raped years before. Unsettled by her presence, he goes into a fit of rage that he finally controls when she tells him she doesn't know him. But his peace of mind doesn't last long. Losing his grip on reality, he eventually kills a woman, begins to go blind, and prepares for his last flight.
