Synopsis
Despite being named "New Commoners" by Emperor Meiji in 1871, the Burakumin still suffered discrimination as Japan's lowest social caste. Beginning in 1908, two Burakumin brothers grow up in the face of outrageous discrimination, finally joining in 1922 a Burakumin organization dedicated to asserting the equality of all people.
