Synopsis
The tortured tale of Wynona-Sue Turnpike, a lonely housewife in a cramped trailer home who yearns to follow her country-music idols to a life as a Nashville superstar. When her philandering husband Clive conspires to have her committed to an insane asylum, Wynona-Sue shoots Clive between the eyes, then analyzes her situation with the song "I've Got a Ring on My Finger and a Stiff on My Hands," accompanied by The Big Wigs, a drag duo who provide musical and moral support throughout the film. Wynona-Sue's life then takes a rollercoaster journey through venereal disease, chronic unemployment and homelessness, only to reach an epiphany by winning a talent contest on a TV show hosted by the excessively pompadoured Crawfish Crenshaw, who falls in love with the singing cutie. However, fate has more than a few tricks to play on Wynona-Sue.
