Synopsis
A drama based on a little-known sidebar of Canadian history: In the 1940s, some German POWs were shipped to Canada, and rural Quebecois routinely elisted these prisoners to help them out on their farms. When German prisoner, Hanibal, arrives to work on the farm of a young couple living outside of Montreal, their rather strained marriage is put to the test; subsequently, a story unfolds dealing with the exploration of lost love, the tricks that memory plays and the ties that bind three generations of a French-Canadian family.
