Synopsis
A schoolteacher in a rural Chinese village is killed. In the subsequent investigation, 32 witnesses are questioned and there is a reconstruction of the events leading up to his murder. The investigating magistrate soon discovers that everyone in the village except the victim had known that his death had been planned by two brothers who suspected him of seducing their sister. She'd been rejected by her husband on their wedding night when he found she was not a virgin.
