Synopsis
Amadeo Ferretti, a fur buyer, lives a quiet life with his wife and family in a small Italian town. An auction in Stockholm takes him on his first long trip away from home, and he begins to imagine that he will be overwhelmed by beautiful Swedish girls. On the ferry ride, Amadeo meets a German scientist, Professor Mayer, who is going to the Nobel Prize presentations, and Amadeo arranges to meet him there. When he first arrives, Amadeo meets a friendly girl but is dismayed to learn that she is only 13 years old. Then he meets Eva and invites her to his hotel room for a drink, but he is disappointed when she leaves after a casual chat. At the Nobel Prize presentations the next day, Amadeo becomes bored and meets another woman, Brigetta, who invites him to a party at her house, where he learns that she is happily married. Amadeo's next encounter is with Carina, who takes him to a sauna, where he faints from exhaustion after rolling naked in the snow. Finally, he meets Katia, and they enter a race riding battered cars across a frozen lake. When the ice breaks, they are rescued by helicopters, and Amadeo is happy to return to his wife and family at home.
