Synopsis
The paralleling of two train journeys taken by a famed writer in his youth and in his middle-age: In the first journey, the ambitious and wide-eyed youth, Esti Kornel, an aspiring writer, visits the Italian coast at the turn of the century, where he meets a series of women. In 1933, world-weary and wiser, he reluctantly travels to Berlin to deliver a lecture, where he astonishingly meets the same group of women.
