Synopsis

In a small French town, three judges have a party in a cabaret with the vivacious actress Mademoiselle Gobette, but when the celebration gets a little too raucous, the judges are arrested. Outraged at the incident, the judges' superior, Monsieur Galipaux, insists that authorities throw Mademoiselle Gobette out of her hotel. As a result, an indignant Mademoiselle Gobette plans her revenge by pretending to be Galipaux' wife. In her new role, she charms Cyprian Gaudet, the Minister of Justice, who, when he meets the real Madame Galipaux, believes her to be a cleaning lady. The masquerade ends, however, when Mademoiselle Gobette, suddenly aware of the possibility for an excellent marriage, stops playing the role of Madame Galipaux and becomes the real Madame Gaudet.
