Synopsis

This documentary maintains that America's youth (aged 13 to 25) have more resources, more leisure, more knowledge, and more money than any other generation before them. Highlighted in the film are the small shops that specialize in original, handmade "mod" apparel; the craze for motorcycles and go-carts; the challenge of facing a 30-foot wall of water with only a 10-foot surfboard; the famed Sunset Strip "youth riot" that demonstrated against the injustices of modern society; the use of LSD and marijuana to increase self-awareness; and the coffee shops and discotheques that have become the "in" meeting places for the young. Above all, it is the music of love and protest (exemplified in the film by Sam the Soul and The Inspirations and The Group) that has the strongest appeal to this generation. The picture concludes at the Whiskey-A-Go-Go cafe on Sunset Strip.
