Synopsis

Mazora, the exotic mystic, seduces Wilton Demarest, a wealthy contractor, and introduces him to the pleasures of opium. Unable to cope with the demands of his life, Wilton, now a hopeless addict, asks his old friend and colleague Martin Stanley to impersonate him. Because of the strong physical resemblance between the two men, Martin succeeds in his deception, but refuses to take advantage of Eleanor, Demarest's wife, and maintains a safe distance from her. Eleanor, who has fallen in love with Martin, confronts him with his cold behavior and forces a confession from him. After discovering Wilton's impostor scheme, Mazora threatens to expose Martin but is killed in a freak electrical accident before she can execute her plan. At her request, Martin takes Eleanor to see Wilton, but finding him dead from an overdose, they pledge their love for each other.
