Synopsis

Polly leads an unhappy life with her stepmother, Mrs. McCracken, and her stepbrother Roy. When Roy makes indecent advances toward Polly, her grandfather hits him over the head. Because they think that Roy is dead, Polly and her grandfather flee to the wharf district of another city where Polly disguises herself as a boy. Soon Polly meets Eddie Douglas and is attracted to him. When Eddie shows an interest in another girl, Polly decides to wear a dress, but is soon recognized by a detective who has been following her. The grandfather is arrested for abducting Polly, although he is not accused of murder as Roy did not die. Mrs. McCracken comes to retrieve Polly, but on their way home in a steamship, Polly jumps overboard. Just as she is about to drown in the rough waters, however, Eddie and Polly's grandfather rescue her in a motorboat that they have commandeered, and all ends happily.

Notes

A plot synopsis in Moving Picture World places Lillian Langdon in the cast, but this is probably an error.
