Synopsis

The alcoholic yet charismatic John Thatcher has been estranged from his good-hearted, socially conscious, boring twin brother William for several years. Then, when William decides to run for the Senate, he hires John to write speeches for him. The rigors of the campaign begin to wear William down, and he soon becomes ill and dies. John decides to pursue his brother's policies and reform himself in the process, so he takes William's place in the Senate race while keeping the death a secret, even from William's sweetheart, Constance Preston. John wins the election and then marries Constance who tells him that she was aware of the switch almost as soon as it took place, because of her boyfriend's sudden increase in ardor.

Notes

It is possible that Charles J. Brabin wrote the scenario and Franklin B. Coates wrote the story. Sources are unclear. The copyright catalog mistakenly lists The Price of Fame as a one-reeler.
