Synopsis

Deserted by her father after he drunkenly kills her mother, three-year-old Mary, looking for a place to sleep, climbs into an automobile. Later, after his sweetheart, Sylvia Sanford, has thrown him out of her house because of his heavy drinking, Bob Daley staggers into his car and finds Mary there. Bob takes her to his home and cares for her, but the real therapeutic effect of the relationship is on Bob. Now acting as a parent, he becomes both responsible and sober. As a result of this new seriousness, Sylvia is reconciled with Bob and then marries him, and the couple rears Mary as their daughter.
