Synopsis

When Mildred Thornton's father dies, he leaves the girl in the care of Sato, a Japanese American who enjoyed his fullest confidence during their business partnership. Although Mildred feels the deepest friendship towards Sato, she does not return the love he feels for her, preferring instead a young man named Harry Maxwell, who has been appointed ambassador to Mexico. In Mexico, Harry is roped into a hasty marriage by adventuress Benita Ramirez. Soon discovering his wife's true nature, however, Harry returns home and realizes that he actually loves Mildred. Soon after Benita comes to seek her revenge on Harry. Sato, knowing that he can never have Mildred and that Benita stands in the way of her happiness, invites the adventuress on a boating trip. In mid-ocean, Sato scuttles the boat and both meet their deaths, freeing Harry to marry Mildred.
