Synopsis

Doris Willard, the daughter of the village minister, persuades her father to send her to college, but upon arriving with her suitcase full of country clothes, she quickly becomes the object of the other girls' taunts. Snubbed, a depressed Doris writes a love letter to herself, signing it "'Bullet' Dick Ames," the name of a popular college football star. Later she drops the letter on the dormitory porch where it is discovered by Daisy Arnold, the leader of the campus "Beauty Squad." Suspicious, Daisy invites Dick and his sister Eleanor to spend Thanksgiving at the school, but her hopes of humiliating Doris are foiled when Dick, aware of what Doris has done, maintains the ruse. Against Doris' wishes, Dick persists in the deceptions until finally they fall in love with each other. Fearing pity, Doris refuses Dick's marriage proposal; but convinced by Eleanor of his genuine love, she finally accepts.
