Synopsis

The She Wolf, a man-hater, lives alone near Mad Dog, a mining camp, whose sheriff secretly leads an outlaw band. Saloon keeper Mui Fing, desiring the drunkard Dud Bigby's virginal daughter Sallie, who secretly is engaged to the absent miner John Williams, gets Dud's promise of her hand. The She Wolf, entering the saloon, sees the Stranger, who once befriended her, being cheated in a poker game, and rescues him, although he is wounded in the ensuing gunfight. She nurses him in her cabin and drives off the sheriff who tries to arrest him. After kidnapping a minister from a stagecoach, who was to perform Mui Fing's marriage to Sallie, the She Wolf sees the sheriff about to marry them in the saloon. Riding through the window on her horse with two guns blazing, she shoots Mui Fing and the sheriff, and rescues Sallie. Sallie and Williams then marry, as do the She Wolf and the Stranger.

Notes

This was to be the first of thirteen two reel productions starring night club entertainer Texas Guinan in a role modeled after that of William S. Hart. Since it turned out to be five reels, it was released to the exchanges at the charge agreed upon for the two reel attractions. Reviewers consistently commented on Guinan's attempt to be the "female William S. Hart," although they disagreed about her success at it.
