Synopsis

Desselway, a gentleman of leisure, falls in love with Diana Curran on their return voyage from Europe. Diana's past, however, rises to threaten her present happiness, for she is the wife of the notorious criminal Wrenshaw, known as The Hawk, whom she married in the belief that he was an honest man. She also suffers under the delusion that she has killed a man. After they arrive in America, Desselway is invited to a house party given by the family for whom Diana works as a social secretary. Also at the party is Wrenshaw, disguised as a detective in order to steal a valuable necklace. Because of his mysterious background, Desselway is thought to be The Hawk, but after Wrenshaw is shot by a former colleague, Desselway reveals himself to be the head of the Secret Service, and thus all impediments are removed from his romance with Diana.
