Synopsis

Lawyer Judson Flagg, owner of a notorious gambling house, fears District Attorney Graham's crusade against such establishments. Through a society woman who owes a large gambling debt, Flagg arranges for his debonair aide, Joe Hunter, to meet the district attorney's daughter, Aline. She is charmed and soon agrees to a secret marriage. During a raid on Flagg's gambling house, Hunter wounds Graham. Threatening to expose the marriage as fake unless Aline pays a large sum of money, Hunter takes a jeweled necklace and leaves. After Aline writes to him at Flagg's and begs him not to desert her, Flagg sets up a meeting with Aline to be recorded on hidden cameras, in order to make her father withdraw from the gubernatorial race. Aline goes to Flagg's, and during a struggle to retrieve the letter, stabs Flagg with a paper cutter. When suspicion of murder is cast on Captain Holbrook, a policeman whom Aline loves, Aline confesses. The concealed camera pictures reveal that Flagg died of heart failure before being stabbed. Hunter's death leaves Aline free to marry Holbrook.
