Synopsis

Hugh Seymour adopts Mary Andrews, his dying friend's daughter, who grows up the close companion of young Dick Seymour. Knowing that Dick's aunt has left him a large fortune, a crooked lawyer hires a beautiful adventuress named Marcelle Rigadout to acquire the young man's money by means of her charm. Acting as Hugh's model, Marcelle so captivates Dick that he agrees to run away with her to Paris. Hugh and Mary follow them, but because of Dick's neglect, Mary is forced to work as a flower girl in order to escape starvation. The jealous La Colombe kills Marcelle in a knife fight, and Dick is convicted of the crime. Mary, however, forces La Colombe to confess her guilt, after which Dick receives his old sweetheart's forgiveness and love.
