Synopsis
A girl wandering along an empty stretch of California beach meets and is seduced by a young man, and she follows him back to his Hollywood apartment because she is destitute. The man's four roommates take advantage of the girl when her casual lover goes away for a week. In another part of Hollywood, a young, jobless actor who carts trash for a wealthy alcoholic meets the girl at the dump where she has gone to escape from her "keepers." The boy takes the girl to his shabby apartment where, strongly attracted to each other, they make love. A tender affair develops between them, which is marred when they encounter the four men who raped the girl. In broad daylight, they accost the lovers, push the girl into their car, assault the actor, and leave him lying in the gutter. Returning to their apartment, the four again rape the girl. A stranger picks up the dazed boy, pretending to help him. In Hollywood Hills the boy senses danger and tries to flee. The man then attempts to kill the boy by running him down with his car. The boy makes it home on foot and, disillusioned, packs his bags to leave Hollywood. The girl returns, having escaped her tormentors, and falls into the boy's arms for comfort. He is determined to go alone, however, and he drives away leaving her standing in the street.
