Synopsis
While major repairs are being made on the roof of the Bank of Belgium, a group of thieves are planning to rob the receipts from the Brussels Exposition. The plan, masterminded from Paris by an underworld figure known as The Marquis, involves Vicky, the money-hungry proprietress of a river barge nightclub, whose outlook has been marked by childhood memories of wartime; James, her assistant; and Marcel, who will execute the robbery while working as a laborer on the construction job. Their plans hit a snag, however, when Vicky refuses to sell her night spot to a deported gangster called The Bug. As a result, The Bug has his mistress, Yoko, and her band of women gangsters raid and demolish the club. Realizing that the robbery is in danger of discovery, Marcel arranges a meeting between The Bug and The Marquis; and another racketeer, The Pirate, arranges a truce whereby Vicky must sell the club within a week. But The Bug is threatened with another deportation unless he pinpoints a waterfront dope smuggling racket, and he mistakenly assumes that Vicky's barge is the ring's headquarters. After abducting James, he learns of the proposed robbery and tries to muscle in. During the violent gun battle that follows, the two gangs annihilate each other.
