Synopsis

Pornographic film director Pertti returns from the United States to his native Finland. At a dinner party in his honor given by married friends Liisa and Jussi, the drunken director makes an unsuccessful pass at Saara, a neurotic schoolteacher. Although he is the houseguest of Jussi, he seduces his host's wife. Inspired to make a pornographic film in Finland, Pertti hires a compliant couple, Ulla and Sven, and transports the pair to a remote island. During a break in the filming, Pertti resumes his pursuit of Saara, whom he finds not only acquiescent, but possessive. Relationships are further complicated by Liisa's threat to tell Jussi of their affair, and by Saara's insistence on moving in with him at Liisa and Jussi's home. Furthermore, when Sven quits the film because of its lack of political commitment, Pertti succeeds him as Ulla's lover. Learning that a warrant has been issued for his arrest on a charge of obscenity, Pertti flees Finland on an ocean liner. Following in a speedboat, Saara boards the ship, hurls the cans of film overboard, and forces Pertti into his stateroom. Satisfying himself that the negative is securely hidden, Pertti complies with Saara's sexual demands.
