Synopsis
A mother of three children is refused an abortion at a Zurich clinic in keeping with the prohibitions of the Swiss law known as "Paragraph 218," and she later dies after obtaining an illegal abortion. At the trial of the abortionist, a general practitioner comes into conflict with the head of the gynecological clinic over the ethics of abortion. The problem of overpopulation and various birth control methods come under discussion, and obstetrical and gynecological procedures are illustrated. The general practitioner decides to devote more time to dispensing birth control information, while the clinic doctor, who had decided to leave his job to pursue a lucrative private practice, changes his mind and remains at the clinic.
