Synopsis

Crofton, a Colorado rancher, and his daughter Enid visit New Yorker James Dukane, Sr., whose dam construction project threatens to flood their land. James "Jimmy" Dukane, Jr. awakens at four one afternoon after having been tossed from a few cafés the previous night. Dukane, Sr. sends Jimmy to be manager of the dam project hoping that he will mature there. Jimmy meets Enid outside her father's office, but her father whisks her away when he learns Jimmy's identity. En route to Colorado, Jimmy, while he sleeps, loses his money, letter of introduction and clothes to a tramp. Corbetson, Dukane's superintendent, puts Jimmy, dressed in hobo rags, on the 4 a.m. work detail. After Jimmy saves Enid from Corbetson's advances, he discovers that Corbetson has been using rock fill in the cement and selling the unused cement for his own profit. After Jimmy organizes workers to fight Corbetson, Corbetson schemes to blow up the dam to hide his crime. When a collie carries the dynamite to the room where Corbetson is holding Jimmy and Enid, Jimmy captures Corbetson. Jimmy then becomes superintendent and marries Enid.
