Synopsis

Jean, a Scottish lass, secretly marries Colin, her soldier lover, who is about to leave for the European front, then confides to her mother that she is pregnant. Later, she receives false information that Colin has been killed in action and decides that she must provide her child with a father. Jean marries Robin Gray, an elderly farmer who is her parents' choice, and while Colin lies severely wounded in an army hospital, love grows between the new couple. When Colin recovers from his wounds and returns to Jean, Robin quickly realizes that she still loves Colin deeply and gracefully steps aside for the younger man. Colin and Jean live together happily and Robin feels pride in his sacrifice.
