Synopsis

Union officer Burton is assigned to be captured by Confederates in his sweetheart's home so that they may obtain false dispatches. Burton sacrifices his love and is almost hanged as a spy when Betty misinterprets his motives. As he is about to be executed, word arrives of Lee's surrender, and Betty rescues him. After the war, misunderstandings are cleared up and their romance is revived.
