Synopsis

Although possessing all the luxuries that money can buy, Margaret Vane, the wife of wealthy Donald Vane, is discontented because her husband devotes too much time to his business. In contrast, Minnie Berry, laboring amid squalid poverty, remains happy and content with the love of her two children and her husband Jack, a machinist who is struggling to invent the washing machine. Margaret deserts her husband for the attentions of Paul Derrick, but when Derrick abandons her, she turns to suicide. Confronted with a similar temptation, Minnie rejects the advances of Ted Leach, and is rewarded for her virtue when Jack's washing machine invention brings the family wealth and happiness.
