Synopsis

Rakish Archduke Alexander falls in love with Judith Peredy, sister of the doctor who practices in a Hungarian village near Alexander's hunting lodge. Although Judith loves Alexander, she outwardly spurns him, having been warned by her brother, Eugene. Not one to suffer denial lightly, the archduke comes to Judith's room during Eugene's absence from home and makes violent love to her. Eugene arrives and is saved from the archduke's sword when Judith shoots the man she loves. She and her brother are imprisoned in Budapest at the command of the archduke's father, who does not want his son to marry beneath himself. When Judith is sure of her love for Alexander, she convinces his father and mother of her sincerity. By special dispensation from the emperor the marriage is allowed.
