Synopsis
Jether, a shepherd, is lured from his home by Tisha, priestess of the goddess Ishtar. He journeys to the city of Babylon, where he lavishes Tisha with gifts and spends his share of his father's wealth on riotous living. Having expended his gold, Tisha turns Jether out. A prophet's prediction of the city's destruction is fulfilled during a banquet honoring Ishtar, but Jether is saved, for he has neither denied God nor worshipped Ishtar. His return home is celebrated by his father with the Feast of the Fatted Calf.
