Synopsis

Randolph King is a dishonest banker who, fearing a police investigation of his financial misdeeds, blackmails his daughter Beatrice's fiancée, Adrian Scarsdale, a candidate for district attorney, into stopping the investigation. Adrian refuses and King commits suicide. Beatrice blames Adrian for her father's death and breaks the engagement. When her dissolute brother Richard forges a check, Beatrice, to keep him from going to jail, marries a cruel trust magnate, Peter Worden, who is also being investigated by Adrian for financial misdeeds. Eventually Worden's secretary kills him in an effort to put Adrian in a compromising position. The truth comes out, however, and Beatrice and Adrian are reconciled.

Notes

Several contemporary sources list Denton Vane as a cast member, and one contemporary review states that he plays the role of the weak brother, but all other reviews credit George Cooper with this role.
