Synopsis

Dawn Emerson is found huddled in the pouring rain at a Lower East Side street corner by "Twenty Years" MacGregor, who takes her to the "End of the Trail" mission, where he assists manager Eli Barker. After experiencing their kindness, Dawn helps them run the mission. One night, society burglar Hamilton Jones hears Dawn's beautiful voice leading the congregation, and he enters to investigate. With money he stole that night, Hamilton buys coffee for everyone. He returns often and soon he and Dawn fall in love. When MacGregor needs an expensive operation after he is run over by a car while trying to save a child's life, Hamilton robs a home to get money, but a stool pigeon, who jealously loves Dawn, informs the police and Hamilton is caught. At the trial, Barker unsuccessfully pleads for Hamilton's cause. After Hamilton is imprisoned and dreams of escape, Barker gets the governor to allow Hamilton to be released in Dawn's custody.
