Synopsis
Insight into the brilliant and troubled life of actor Charles Laughton. Here, we trace his acting career from early theater successes in London's West End to Hollywood stardom. Constantly struggling with his unattractive face and overweight body, Laughton was troubled his whole life by feelings of guilt and inadequacy. This was exacerbated by his homosexuality and his unlikely 30-year marriage to Elsa Lanchester. A perfectionist when it came to his work, Laughton eventually became more and more self-absorbed over time.
