Synopsis

Alice Lindsay arrives in New York from a small town and becomes part of Greenwich Village Bohemian life. Alice resists the advances of Gwenne Stevens, an advocate of free love, and marries civil engineer Samson Rathbone. Wealthy Roy Mackay attempts to buy Alice with jewels. She scorns him, but when her husband becomes ill, she goes to Roy for financial assistance. Samson later learns of the affair and divorces her. After she gives birth to Roy's baby, Alice and her baby go back to her hometown, but she receives no sympathy and returns to New York. Roy offers to marry her, and Alice accepts. They find happiness together, and the future of their baby is assured. A parallel story set in Japan is incorporated into the film.

Notes

Scenes from the film were shot on New York City's MacDougal Street and other areas of Greenwich Village. Contemporary reviews credit Norman, not Norma, Lorimer with the film's story, and Motion Picture News states that Norman Lorimer wrote the story expressly for Evelyn Nesbit. Some reviews give the film's title as Woman! Woman!
