Synopsis
Captain Musgrove, brutal lord of a South Sea island and controller of the pearl diving industry, catches Tagu, son of the native chief, in the act of poaching. Tagu revenges himself by attempting to kill Frederico, Musgrove's chief diver. Frederico and Jean, a beachcomber, are rivals for the affection of Musgrove's daughter, Ethel. During an experimental dive, Jean and Frederico discover a treasure chest and decide to conceal their find from Musgrove. Returning, Frederico abandons Jean when he is trapped by a giant clam, but Jean extricates himself and wins Ethel. Musgrove reforms and puts Jean in charge of the diving.
