Synopsis

Phyllis Lord, a fashion model with a craving for expensive clothes, is tempted into a gambling den owned in part by detective James Burke. Seeing her as a potential aide, the crooked Burke accuses Phyllis of stealing in order to force her into securing evidence in a murder case against Robert Armstrong. Set up in a fine hotel, Phyllis falls in love with Robert while trying to tease evidence out of him, and in the midst of proposing to her, Robert confides his knowledge of the murder. Armed with a covert recording of Robert's statement, Burke takes him into custody and forces a confession out of him. Overcome by guilt and denounced by Robert, Phyllis seeks the advice of Mr. Armstrong. Although Phyllis learns that Robert's father actually committed the murder in self-defense, Detective Burke will not accept her explanation. Later, Phyllis gains proof that Burke is a bigamist and vows to discredit him if he will not let Armstrong go free. With both father and son vindicated, Phyllis is reconciled with Robert.
