Synopsis

Gene Romaine lives with her father Jacques, the fire warden for the Stanton Lumber Co., in a little cabin in the southern mountains. Father and daughter live peacefully until McDaniels, the logging boss, decides to rid himself of his Indian wife in order to marry Gene. So that her father may keep his job, Gene gives her consent, but before the ceremony, she is overcome by revulsion and escapes into the woods. There she meets Tim Stanton, whose father, the company's owner, has ordered his alcoholic son not to return until he has proven himself a man. Tim defends Gene from McDaniels, but when the logging boss is murdered, Tim is blamed and led out to be lynched. Gene, who loves Tim, threatens the crowd with a gun, and just then, McDaniels' abandoned wife confesses that it was she who stabbed him. Regenerated through Gene's love, Tim promises to make her happy.
