Synopsis

Expecting the arrival of a prophet, a religious sect in the mountains of Virginia every year selects five beautiful girls to be his wives. A young lawyer, Howard Brice, happens along and admires the face of Judith, one of the brides-to-be. He is mistaken for the prophet (because of a tattooed portrait of Judith on his chest), becomes involved in religious ceremonies, and finally escapes with his life--and Judith.
